Manaus Ministry

The ministry in Manaus at the BMM Family Missions Conference has kept us busy and has been full of blessings. We arrived at the conference hotel late Monday morning after a song filled bus ride from the Carruthers house. We quickly settled in and got to work arranging tables and chairs and organizing final details for the children’s ministry here. The conference began at 7 with a service and our group was asked to provide special music. It was neat to worship with and minister to over 100 faithful servants of Christ and look out over years of ministry experience. Then it was off to take care of the younger children while the parents enjoyed the preaching from Dr. Vernon Roseneau. After service we enjoyed meeting the various missionary families and hearing how God is using them in various parts of Brazil to see souls saved and churches planted. What a rich treasure of knowledge and experience we are privileged to learn from and serve this week.

In the morning we began our VBS style ministry for the children, keeping them from 8:30 – 12:00 while their parents enjoyed services and conduct mission business. Pray for these children that the Bible lessons will impact their lives. We are thankful for the opportunity to serve these missionary families in this way. One mother commented that she couldn’t remember the last time she had sat through a service without children as they are church planting and the only nursery worker is her! Missionaries are real people with needs and we are glad to provide them a little respite and encouragement.

The afternoons are free time and we enjoyed spending time checking out a local jungle themed mall with the Carruthers. Then another round of nursery and fellowship! We are looking forward to a day on the Amazon river tomorrow as we go with the missionary families on a trip up the river to see the Amazon region..it even includes swimming with fresh water pink dolphins. We look forward to all that God has for us as we continue to serve Him by serving others.

God Bless from the Amazon,

Pastor Eastwood
